The world is a complex environment. CASIL’s mission is to enhance your knowledge by making the complex more comprehensible, ensuring your ability to move forward in a positive direction with positive results.  Mark Chandler leads CASIL through utilizing his vast leadership experience that is focused on improving ourselves and leading our people and organizations with knowledge, strength, fortitude, vision and personal accountability.

Mark is a proven and successful leader and with vast experience in both strategy and crisis management – proven in both peacetime and wartime environs. Mark retired from the Marine Corps after serving 21 years as an intelligence officer, he served around the globe in multiple crisis environments and two major wars – Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1990/’91 and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003).  His assignments included tours in the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. He was at the forefront of America’s engagements for almost 40 years.  His numerous awards include the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star among many others.

Mark is also retired from the Senior Executive Service ranks in the Department of Defense intelligence and security policy arenas.  Key positions Mark held include: Deputy J2 Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS, J2), Director of Defense Intelligence Agency’s Middle East and Africa Center, Director of Warfighter Support for Office of Secretary of Defense, Intelligence (USD/I), and Director of Intelligence Analysis, and Partnerships and Engagements for the U.S. Air Force.  He is a two-time Presidential Rank Award nominee.

Mark has been featured on LiveNow Fox conducting over 70 interviews on the Middle East crises, Chinese Spy Balloon incident, Russian Bomber encroachments and national security Strategy.  He has also been featured on multiple TV stations in South Carolina, Virginia, along with the BBC. Additionally, Mark is often sought-after for his insight on National Security Issues and International crises for Sinclair Broadcast Services.  He has conducted numerous public speaking engagements and served as a panelist on various national security issues and strategies.  His writings on intelligence and security issues have been published in the Wall Street Journal and Military Times. 

As a Professor of Practice and Director of Government Relations at Coastal Carolina University’s Intelligence and Security Studies Department, Mark has taught tomorrow’s intelligence and law enforcement leaders in Intelligence Analysis, Wartime Intelligence Support and National Intelligence Community standards and processes.

Mark graduated from The University of Alabama, Huntsville with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and minor in Communication Arts, and received his Master’s degree in International Relations from Troy University.  He also attended several Marine Corps, Joint and Senior Executive Leadership schools and programs.
